Webinar Description:
Prof. Stefania Mondello, University of Messina, Italy, will provide an overview of biomarkers in both acute and sub-acute traumatic brain injury (TBI) and will discuss a recently published study in which the ultrasensitive Simoa technology was used to measure a longitudinal cohort of severe TBI patients in matching cerebrospinal fluid and plasma samples, allowing correlation of plasma and CSF measurements.
Dr. Robert Stern, Boston University, will then provide an overview of the neuropathological and clinical definitions of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), first described in National Football League (NFL) players. He will also discuss early results of biomarker analysis of neurodegenerative biomarker such as a tau in the plasma of retired NFL players using Simoa.
